The Studio

I have a great studio in the historic Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. Every time I walk up the old circular staircase to my second floor studio I get a sense of how people lived a hundred years ago. The building was built to last. That’s how things were done in 1881. It has large double hung windows with the original glass panes. Sections of interior walls reveal the layers of wallpaper that were once used.

It is a sanctuary for me. Yes, I paint here, but more importantly I study the work I have done. Artists need to look carefully at what they do. Not everything works and there is a reason for that. Some paintings still resonate years after they were painted. By comparing these two groups, I have learned from my own body of work.

My studio is open to visitors by appointment. I have quite a bit of work that is not on my web site. Most of it is in my studio and I enjoy sharing it. Many people comment on how many paintings I have. Then I remind them I have been painting for the better part of 25 years.

The studio is located on the second floor of this historic building in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh.
